BESKRIVELSE:
How come Israel has no defined borders and no immigration policy? * Why does it refuse to recognize its own nationality? * Why is it opposed to having a constitution? * Is it even remotely democratic? * What, if anything, makes it ‘Jewish’?
For over six decades, Israeli propaganda (Hasbara) has been working hard in order to convince the world that the Zionist project in Palestine is a legitimate one. That Israel and Palestine are separate entities and that the State of Israel is a democracy with a vibrant peace camp. Every global mainstream media outlet echoes the Israeli propaganda and yet, nothing could be farther from the truth.
The emerging BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) campaign, which insists on having a rights-based approach to ending the Zionist-Palestinian conflict, has managed in a single decade to turn the whole of Israeli propaganda on its head and expose Israel for what it is – a deeply supremacist state that practices colonialism, belligerent occupation and apartheid. Now, we can finally focus on the real issues at hand and discuss the only relevant discourse for ending the conflict and for realizing a better and brighter future.
Ronnie Barkan is an Israeli activist, a conscientious objector and co-founder of Boycott from Within – a group of conscientious Israelis who support the Palestinian call for BDS. Barkan will be visiting Ungdomshuset in n November where he will discuss the supremacy and state of denial of Israeli society and the many myths that Israelis and the rest of the world have been trained to believe. He claims that there is no Israeli left, nor a peace camp, and that it never existed. Rather, the only responsible and feasible way to bring about a change for the better depends on every one of us – those who reside outside of Palestine and who care for a better future for all the people of the land.
