I øjeblikket spilles U-21 mesterskaberne i Danmark hvor byerne Viborg, Herning, Aalborg og Aarhus er vært for kampene.
Hvad mange måske ikke har opdaget er at UEFA har tildelt Israel værtskabet for det næste UEFA U-21 i 2013. Det er en ære at få tildelt værtskabet for en international fodboldturnering, og denne ære mener vi ikke skulle tilkomme et land som bryder internationale love og forhindrer palæstinenserne i at deltage i internationale sportskonkurrencer. Derfor har Boykot Israel sendt nedenstående åbne brev til Michel Platini, præsidenten for UEFA.

Kære Michel Platini
Boykot Israel opfordrer indtrængende UEFA (the Union of European Football Association)til at annullere beslutningen om at lade Israel få værtskabet for UEFA U-21 i 2013
I oktober 2010 bekræftede UEFA sin antiracistiske holdning. Siden da har Israel fortsat sine forbrydelser mod palæstinenserne. Vi er derfor meget forundret over at De nu belønner Israel for dets grusomheder mod palæstinenserne ved at tildele Israel værtskabet for U-21 i 2013.
Det palæstinensiske folk har oplevet årtiers besættelse. Israel forsøger systematisk at erobre stadig mere palæstinensisk land og overfører illegalt sin egen befolkning til de besatte områder. Israels besættelse er ifølge international lov dybt ulovlig.
UEFA’s beslutning om at tildele Israel værtskabet for U-21 mesterskaberne i 2013 er yderst problematisk. Det sender et signal om at UEFA ikke har problemer med Israels racistiske og ulovlige behandling af den palæstinensiske befolkning. Som erklæret antiracistiskorganisation skulle UEFA ikke gøre sig medskyldig i Israels forbrydelser.
Palæstinenserne forhindres på mange måder i at deltage i internationalt fodbold gennem Israels besættelsespolitik.
– I september 2005 blev fem af de bedste spillere på det palæstinensiske landshold forhindret i at rejse uden for Gaza og deltage i kvalifikationskampene i den asiatiske gruppe op til VM i fodbold året efter. Palæstina tabte og røg ud.
– I 2007, blev landsholdet forhindret i at rejse til Singapore til en kvalifikationskamp til verdensmesterskaberne og blev således elimineret.
– I forbindelse med Israels angreb på Gaza i 2008/2009 blev 1417 mennesker dræbt og meget infrastruktur ødelagt, herunder fodboldstadiet og det palæstinensiske fodboldforbunds hus. Alle planer om genopbygning er sat i stå på grund af manglende levering af byggematerialer som følge af Israels fortsatte belejring af Gaza.
Boykot Israel opfordrer UEFA til at omstøde beslutningen om at tildele Israel værtskabet for U-21 mesterskaberne i 2013. Det er aldrig en skam at tage fejl og tage en ny beslutning. Tværtimod.

From Boykot Israel on the UEFA Decision to let Israel host the U21 Championship in 2013
Just now the U-21 championship 2011 is taking place in Denmark where the cities of Viborg, Herning, Aarhus and Aalborg are hosting the football matches.
What not all people know is that Israel has been chosen by UEFA to host the next UEFA U-21 Football Championship in 2013. Hosting an international sporting competition is an honour which should not be given to a country which breaks the international law and bars the Palestinians from taking part in international sporting competitions. Below is an open letter to the president of UEFA, Mr. Michel Platini, from Boykot Israel Denmark.

Open Letter to UEFA on Israel hosting the U- 21 Football Championship 2013
Dear Mr. Michel Platini,
Boykot Israel Denmark urges the Union of European Football Association (UEFA) to cancel the decision to let Israel host the UEFA U- 21 Championship 2013.
In October 2010 the UEFA renewed its commitment to antiracism. Since that time the crimes of Israel towards the Palestinian people have continued. Therefore Boykot Israel Denmark is very surprised that you are now rewarding Israel’s atrocities by granting them the privilege of hosting the U-21 championship 2013.
The Palestinian people has experienced decades of military occupation. Israel is systematically in search for occupying still more Palestinian land and is illegally transferring its own population into the occupied territories. Israel’s occupation is illegal under international law.
The decision of UEFA to allow Israel to host the U-21 championship is extremely problematic and damaging. It sends a message that UEFA has no issue with the illegal, discriminatory and racist treatment of Israel towards the Palestinian people. As a declared antiracist organization surely UEFA should not make itself a complicit in Israel’s actions.
Palestinians are effectively barred from international football by the extreme restrictions on them by Israeli occupation in many ways.
– In September 2005, Palestine was in a good position in its Asian zone group in the qualifying rounds for the 2006 World cup. But the Israeli authorities stopped five key players travelling outside Gaza, and Palestine failed to qualify.
-In 2007, the national team was prevented from travelling to play a World Cup Qualifier in Singapore and thus eliminated.
During Israel’s war on Gaza2008/2009, 1417 people were killed. Much infrastructure was destroyed including the Palestinian national stadium and the Palestinian Football Association building. All plans for a new stadium have been stopped because of the continuing Israeli siege of Gaza.
Boykot Israel Denmark is calling on UEFA to reverse its decision to let Israel host the U-21 championship in 2013. It is never a shame to admit one’s mistakes and take a new decision. On the contrary.
